LET'S TALK ABOUT HYMN - Min. Oluwapelumi Adebayo aka Livingpraise

1. Can we meet you ma

Res: I am Mrs. Oluwapelumi Adebayo known as Livingpraise. A music minister by calling and a Nurse by profession.

2. What drove you into music

Res: Hmnn... I never wanted to do music. Even tho I love singing and I've been doing that from when I was young. God has been speaking to me about who I was going to be and what I was going to do. I didn't get the clear picture because I thought t was Normal to sing.

3. So ma, was it that you just go into music or there were things you did which made you to be where you are today

Res: God kept speaking to me and kept sending people to me. I received the conviction myself and the gift keep finding expression. So I would conclude that purpose was my drive into music.

4. Can you tell us briefly about your ministry ma

Res: I Started with God and I in 2012. Two people later joined (drummer and backup). I had my first album in 2015 after which I met my husband who is now my producer. I am still with God and still growing.

5. What can you tell us about Hymn

Res: Hymn is powerful and inspirational just like every song given by the spirit of God. Pls note the SONG BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD Hymn is detailed, and also comes from real encounter with Holy Spirit which should also be the same for every song.

6. What has been your encounters about Hymns

Res: Hymns are melodiously arranged of course, for worship services and personal communion. Majorly, hymns have also been my other way of prayer especially when I'm weak in my spirit, when my spirit is overwhelmed by the fears of life sometimes and when I don't know the right way to place my words in prayer.

There's this hymn I love so much; "Wa Bami Gbe"(CACGHB 22). It tells of all my fears and speaks to my heart a lot. Anytime I sing it, it ministers to me and God always speak through it.

7. What are your testimonies about Hymn

Res: Hymns are blessing to me. Sometimes when I sing hyms, I receive angelic ministrations. I feel more connected to God, receive instructions and directions and so much more.

8. When you minister in hymns either virtually or physically, has there ever been any testimonies through hymns?

Res:Yes, to the glory of God.

9. Can you share some with us

Res: Healings. Whenever I'm going for ministration and the Holy spirit wants me to go into the prophetics, He lays hymns in my heart and people of God recieves healing and mended hearts.

10. What makes a song evergreen like the hymns

Res: True encounter with the Holy Spirit.

11. Are you now a full time music minister or you still work as a nurse

Res: Presently full time. I resigned from the hospital I work with this year but I still treat people if need be.

12. What do you have for the pastors that have neglected singing hymns in their various churches?

Res: This is shocking. Tho I never knew some pastors are neglecting hymns already but really hymns should not be neglected. Sometimes, hymns makes sermon explicit in people's heart; it sheds more light. It has happened to me many times and I'm sure for many as well.

13. Some people have categorized hymns as old school songs. May we know your opinion on that ma

Res: For me, hymns will continually be relevant.

14. Between English hymns and Yoruba hymns, which one do you prefer personally that moves you

Res: I prefer both but Yoruba does it better.

15. Why do you think people ignore hymns

Res: ignorance I would say.

16. Do you believe someone can compose hymns nowadays

Res: Yes. Infact, I'm still praying for the grace myself, if God will tho.

17. Is there anything you want to add that we are yet to talk about ma?

Res: I just want to advice everyone that when singing hymns, let's sing it prayerfully even if its a hymn of praise.
